About Suzanna Spring

I bring an open heart to my classes, and a sense of exploration. I love the energy of alignment as well as the beauty and flow of challenging vinyasa in this “moving meditation.” Marrying breath and asana, students will develop a sense of the body as fluid, intelligent and ultimately, divine—the essence of Tantra yoga. Music is a big part of my life, and I bring a mix of modern rock, alternative/indie, chant, and African/Indian world music to my classes.

I have practiced both Iyengar and Ashtanga yoga. As a staff songwriter for EMI Music and Bluewater Music Publishing in Nashville–I wrote a song called TIME for country recording artist Doug Stone–I kept my sanity by studying yoga with Iyengar instructors Jan Campbell and Cora Wen, with instructor Rodney Yee, and with Ashtanga instructor Laura Parker-Hawes. In addition to my Iyengar  coursework, I completed Prana Flow™ teacher training with instructor Shiva Rea. I still study with Shiva, and have served as an assistant, and as a mentor to new prana flow students. I also study with Tias Little whenever I can. I’m registered with Yoga Alliance as an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT).

As my own practice evolves, I have found many opportunities to study and teach  Yin and Restorative yoga, and I am astonished at the power of both to heal injuries of body and spirit.  My work is informed by my classes with teachers Sarah Powers and Judith Hanson Lasater, and by the work of Paul Grilley. An avid SCUBA diver, I’m a believer in the fluid body and our innate ability to heal injuries. My Yin and Restorative yoga workshops offer deep relaxation, and self-awareness as a doorway to transformation.

About Kelli Barnett

Yoga is union and I try to blend as many modalities of yoga and teaching which I hope is a different experience every time you come to class. I aspire to make our yoga experience vibrant, honest, spontaneous – and fun! My classes range in structure, but are consistently deep and intense.  I love when we find muscles in the body that we never knew existed.  I once heard someone say, “change can happen in one breath” – yoga is the opportunity for that transformational breath. I love music in class because it adds a wonderful layer to our environment and state of mind. I play everything from world beats to rock.

My interest in Yoga began after the events of 9/11, which left me quite unsettled. I realized I needed a path to develop my internal strengths and spiritual being.  I immediately began intensive studying at Shoshoni Ashram in Boulder, Co. It was at this ashram where I earned my first 200 hours of certification.

After leaving Colorado, and returning to Danville, California, I began to teach. I have continued to learn and grow, as well as continue on with additional teacher trainings.  Earning another 200 hour teaching certificate with Clayton Horton/ Greenpath Yoga, 30 hours with Shiva Rea, and most recently, 100 hours with Rusty Wells. I have also studied with Ana Forrest, Tony Briggs and Mary Lynn Fitton. I currently teach at The Studio, and the Yoga Company, both in Danville.

Suzanna Spring Yoga

Lavender Farm is my home in California, and I am a Prana Flow yoga teacher. I also teach Yin and Restorative yoga. I began my yoga path while in Nashville, Tennessee, playing music and writing songs for EMI and for Bluewater Music Publishing. My first instructor was an Iyengar teacher. I later studied Ashtanga yoga before discovering the lovely namaskars of Shiva Rea and completing my teacher training with her. I also study with Tias Little whenever I can.

Because I often think musically, I believe yoga asana is a moving meditation, a dance of strength and grace that unexpectedly brings the mind in tune with the heart. I teach at studios in the east Bay. I love the joy of vinyasa and the deep introspection of yin and restorative yoga. Yoga is alchemy; a process of transformation. Like music, it is beautiful medicine.
